West Hillhurst is an inner-city community in northwest Calgary, annexed by the city in 1907, though most of its housing dates from 1945 onward when Victory Homes were built for returning World War II veterans. Many of these modest postwar homes remain today alongside newer infill development. The Bow River forms West Hillhurst's southern boundary, giving residents direct access to the Bow River pathway system for walking, cycling, and river access, with the community also bordered by 18th Street W, 28th Street W, and bisected by Crowchild Trail. West Hillhurst's location just north of Kensington and the Bow River puts it within easy reach of downtown Calgary, the Kensington shopping and dining district, and the University of Calgary. The neighbourhood is known for its mature trees, community association facilities, and a mix of character homes and modern infill.
