Hot off the press!

RE/MAX's Spring Market Trends Report finds that "Slowly recovering oil prices, low interest rates, and US approval of the Keystone XL pipeline project have renewed buyer optimism in Alberta."

In Calgary, "optimistic move-up buyers are driving demand for detached, single-family homes" and the condo market remains flat due to "considerable inventory".

CRA Canadian Tax TimeStarting with the 2016 tax year (generally due April 2017), Canadians must now report sales of primary residences to the Canadian Revenue Agency when filing their taxes. While reporting the sale of a primary residence is now required, profit made is still likely exempt from being taxed. Penalties for not reporting the sale can be as high as $8,000.

Wow!

In Texas, this family bought an Aqua Dam for $8,300 and saved their property from massive flooding - which certainly would have destroyed his house otherwise.
