As a Realtor for over 20 years in Calgary, I've experienced so many unique situations and watched other professionals fix small problems enough times that sometimes - ok, more than sometimes - I get called upon by my friends & clients for non real estate advice. I'm far from being a plumber but this "hissing" sound was something I had seen many times on Toto toilets.

Calgary has notoriously "hard" water and its high mineral and chlorine content will eventually eat away at the rubber inside the toilet fill valve assembly. I had previously helped a friend install a Korky replacement fill valve but noticed afterwards there is a replaceable rubber valve available if you're willing to take the assembly apart. For 2020, RE/MAX projects that Calgary will continue to be a buyer's market due to Alberta's economy and higher unemployment rate. Overall housing affordability remains - compared to other major cities - low, as low priced condos allow buyers to enter the housing market. Average home prices are not expected to change from 2019 with the average detached single family home remaining at $460,532.

Calgary's luxury home market in 2020 will be driven by move-up buyers and foreign buyers although the population will increase mostly with newcomers arriving from other parts of Alberta. Condos will continue to be attractive to first time buyers and younger families as inventory increases of quality units under $300,000.

Opened in June 2019, the Bonavista Downs Community Disc Golf Course is Calgary's newest "9 holes, 9 baskets" disc golf course. This course is located on Lake Huron Crescent SE at the Bow Bottom Baseball Fields in Bonavista Downs at the intersections of Anderson Trail, Deerfoot Trail and Bow Bottom Trail.

Bonavista's is a free walk-on course and you're able to use your Frisbee or Ultimate Frisbee but disc golf is generally played with a set of discs which, like golf clubs, all have a different purpose. Canadians love where they live; RE/MAX Liveability Report explores some of the best places to live in Canada

RE/MAX asked and Canadians spoke! Key findings from the Liveability Report show that 89% of Canadians would recommend their neighbourhoods to others. Six in ten Canadians enjoy proximity to shopping, dining and green spaces where they live. Two-thirds of Canadians' time is spent in their own neighbourhood.

Calgary ranked high in seven out of 11 categories, including offering good access to employment opportunities, population growth, housing supply, housing affordability and easy access to bike lanes and/or walking paths. Oversupply persists despite improved sales activity for affordable product

City of Calgary, April 1, 2019

March saw a modest decline in city wide sales activity compared to last year. However, sales have been rising for more affordable product in the detached and attached sectors.

Shifts in the lower end of the market have not outweighed easing across the higher priced product. First-quarter sales dropped to 3,108 units. This is nine per cent below last year and 28 per cent below typical levels of activity.
