Kelowna, BC – RE/MAX International Inc., headquartered in Denver, CO, presented RE/MAX of Western Canada with the 2009 North American Region of the Year Award at the annual RE/MAX International Convention in Orlando, Florida on March 1 - 3. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding regions that demonstrate the highest overall net growth, profitability, market share and production.

The region, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, was established in 1980 and since that time has proven to be a market leader in growth and profitability expanding the presence of RE/MAX throughout Western Canada. Despite last year’s unpredictable market conditions, RE/MAX of Western Canada reported a 3.5% growth in number of offices in 2009. With over 5,700 sales associates and 240 offices, RE/MAX of Western Canada has the largest market share in each of the Western Canadian provinces (30 % in British Columbia, 36% in Alberta, 37% in Manitoba and 38% in Saskatchewan) in over 104 cities (55 in British Columbia alone) and an overall market share of 34% and growing.

In addition to this year’s North American Region of the Year Award, RE/MAX of Western Canada has also achieved the 2009 Community Citizenship Award for being the #1 Contributing Region to the Children’s Miracle Network for the fourth consecutive year as agents collectively raised over $1.35 million in 2009.
